Our Purpose
Novice to Nightclub began with a simple idea: what if music education could feel as exciting and relevant as the world we actually live in?
When we first took DJ equipment into primary schools across south London, something unexpected happened. Pupils who had never considered themselves musical became completely absorbed. Children who lacked confidence started performing in front of audiences. For some, it was their first ever experience of making music.
For us, that moment shaped everything.
At its heart, Novice to Nightclub is about people. It's about access to skills, to culture, and to experiences most people never imagined for themselves. It's about adults and young people discovering a completely new creative outlet. It's about teams connecting in a genuinely fun and energising way. And it's about creating moments people remember for years.
There's something powerful about watching someone walk in believing they can't do music, and leave having performed a live DJ set.
That transformation is why we exist.

In a previous role, he led a Music Department that was recognised with the Independent Schools of the Year Award for Best Performing Arts Department, reflecting his ability to build ambitious, inclusive and high-performing musical cultures.
Alongside his educational leadership, Charles has developed a deep network across both the classical and commercial music worlds and is known for creating immersive, audience-focused programming that brings people together across genres and generations.
Big Ideas,
Real Impact.
We've built a DJing outreach programme bringing structured musical opportunities to inner London schools facing high deprivation. In the last year, we've worked with 3 primary cohorts, delivering weekly sessions, and a secondary school for a workshop day, all delivered on professional DJ equipment and culminating in a live performance that builds pupils' confidence, aspiration and sense of self.
"It was an incredible opportunity for the children and experiences they would never normally have access to. It has done wonders for their confidence as well as all the other skills which come from learning music."
— Sarah Pieniek-Jones, Head Teacher at Falconbrook
